When I first started my Patreon I wanted to offer my supporters exclusive access to things in my archive that haven't been in the public domain.
Today I'm thrilled to be able to offer up another one of those gems - a very rare recording of an unreleased song - The Hunger Artist - that was recorded at Abbey Road's legendary Studio 2 (yes THAT one) for a filmed live session/documentary that, for various reasons, has yet to see the light of day.
The track drops at 7pm BST this evening for all members on any paid tier on my Patreon.
Just before the pandemic, I was very lucky to have the opportunity to spend the day at Abbey Road. Joining me on the day was violinist Sophie Green and cellist Gill Wood and at the very end of the session we managed to capture a few live recordings, unrehearsed, to make the most of being in the amazing space.
You would think that such a legendary space would be an intimidating space to record but Studio 2 is actually one of the warmest and most comfortable experiences I have ever had doing a session. There's something about the atmosphere in that hallowed space that ends up feeling so welcoming and familiar rather than overwhelming.
I hope you enjoy this small slice of what was a fabulous day.
