For anyone who has previously dived into the wonderful Radio 4 series Soul Music, you’ll be familiar with the often incredibly moving journeys into the emotional impact of song.
Tender is a very, very fine song. Blur really never could be pigeonhole into a genre, so lucky that the term Britpop came along at the time. This song really sounds a lot like some South-USA gospel like tune. Could you please make it possible to download your version on Bandcamp? Now no more writing, off to BBC!
That line " c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, get through it" is both a brilliant hook and a great lyric. Vague but meaningful, everyone can relate, especially during lockdown, that collective fever dream.
As a non Blur fan, this is a wonderful song, perfectly arranged. As Fitzgerald knew, music is the great balm for our souls. On the rare occasion I can admit I'm sad, I want my music downbeat but hopeful. The Pumpkins cover of Landslide led me to the genius of Stevie Nicks. And I'm forever grateful.
Catherine's version of Tender is so beautiful, so bruised with knowledge it makes my heart jump. I think my brain separates the covers-Catherine, the originals - The Anchoress. Strange maybe but I never went to the gigs expecting covers, so I'm never disappointed.
Also, listen out for the edit just before the guitar solo on the album version. You hear Damon sing “Te…” and get cut off. I’m guessing they were still using tape and razor blades then.
Can't edit the above, I've found out I can download it, sorry!

Anyway, yes, great song, great cover.

The whole of 13 is an absolute masterpiece.
